Do I need to book tickets to visit The Gardens?

We advise visitors to book online but you are also welcome to pay at our ticket office on arrival.

Do I need to book tickets to visit the castle?

Guided castle tours run at 11:30, 13:00 and 14:30. Tickets can either be purchased online or at the ticket office. Due to limited numbers on each tour advance booking is recommended.  

Do I need to book a ticket if I am a season pass holder?

No. Please note guided castle tours are not included as part of your season pass and booking is advisable.

Is Caerhays dog friendly?

Yes. Well behaved dogs on leads are most welcome at Caerhays.

Is Caerhays family friendly?

Spark children’s imagination with an abundance of plants, trees, and wildlife. Pick up one of our nature trails and see what you can find along the way. Please check our website for other events throughout the season.

How big are the gardens?

Caerhays is an informal 140 acre woodland garden noted for its magnolias, camellias and rhododendrons, many of which originated from China at the start of last century.

Can I download a map before I visit?

You can purchase one of our garden guides online or at the ticket office on arrival. Garden guides contain a brief history of the garden lots of photographs and information on many of the plants found in the gardens including detailed guided walk maps to ensure you don’t miss anything during your visit to the Estate.

Who owns the gardens?

Caerhays is privately owned by the Williams family.

How long should we allow for our visit?

This is a very difficult question to answer but we usually advise at least 4 hours to explore the main part of the garden and visit the tea rooms and exhibition in the courtyard.

Do you hold special events?

Yes owner Charles Williams runs 3 RHS recommended Lectures each year. Please also visit our website for a full list of events.

Does Caerhays have a café?

We have the lovely Magnolia Tea Rooms on site otherwise we have The Beach Café located at Porthluney beach a short distance from the gardens.

Is Caerhays accessible?

Unfortunately due the nature of Caerhays we regret that Caerhays gardens has limited disabled access however out guided castle tours are fully accessible. Please see https://visit.caerhays.co.uk/visit-us/health-and-safety/ for further information.

Do you have to pay to park at Caerhays castle and gardens?

Visitors to Caerhays castle and gardens receive complimentary parking at Porthluney Beach car park. Please note this can be amended with instructions once we know how car parking will work.

Are there public toilets at Caerhays?

Yes. Women’s, men’s and disabled toilets are located in the courtyard and are regularly cleaned throughout the day.
